pocket_entropy just posted this to her own LJ as well as the cakepieces community. I'm sad to say I'm not a viable home for any of them due to allergies, but if I could do anything, it's spread the word. The following is her post: Town Cats, the nonprofit feline rescue we volunteer with, is in the process of raiding a horder home in the area, 100 cats confined to one household. All we know so far is that the cats are friendly. We'll know more in a few days.
Town Cats itself can hold about 20 of these guys, and they've sent out an urgent plea for foster homes for the other 80. These cats will be destroyed at local shelters if we don't take them. Arty and I will be fostering what we can. I am hoping that none of them end up going to shelters, which is why I'm putting a call out here.
If you are in the bay area, CA, and are willing to foster or adopt, or know someone who is here and may be willing, please let me know. And please feel free to spread the word.
(My own siamese cat, Red Dog, was rescued from a hording situation--he's probably the best cat I've ever had. That's a big reason as to why I feel so strongly about helping out with this.)

Please, if anybody is able to help, please do so!

Time: 28 minutes Distance: 2.64 miles Top Speed: 6.2 mph Calories: 277 Preacher Curl: 20 lbs. x1, 30 lbs. x2 Seated Row: 60 lbs. Wide Grip Lat Pulldown: 60 lbs. Straight Arm Cable Pulldown: 45 lbs. x2, 30 lbs. x1 I really did not want to go running today. My throat is scratchy and weird, I've been sneezing all day, and I'm feeling a little wheezy. I had a surprise run-in with some cats yesterday, and I'm still shaking off the allergies. This is even after dosing myself on non-drowsy medicine, immediately throwing the dandery clothes into the hamper and taking a shower as soon as I got home. Blah. Not sure if this is some weird placebo effect or what, or if too little sleep and the allergy opened the way for a summer cold, or what. I'm just kind of feeling run down. Still, there was fun to be had last night at poker. I'm happy with my style of play, though I could be better at stopping to read people before putting my chips in. The last two weeks I've been cracked, which is just bad luck, but I've also hung in a bit too long on hands I should know better than to play and I don't make the most of opportunities when I do have something. You can always get better, and we've got a really strong group, so I'm going to have to. :) Back to exercise: I pushed myself a little today with my set. The preacher curl was too easy, and I handled 30 pounds all right. It's a bit too early to up the weight on the cable pulldown though. Maybe next week. The trouble is the weight set I'm working with only goes up in increments of 15 lbs., which is a pretty big jump. It doesn't really allow me to a little more week by week, unfortunately. So, the system I've adopted is upping one exercise a week, rotating through all of the exercises. This means I'll be upping the weights on one particular exercise once a month, which might be a good rate of progress. Next week, though, I'll see if I can't do full sets of the Preacher Curl and the cable pulldown at 30 and 45, respectively. Current Mood: drained Current Music: Chase This Light - Jimmy Eat World

Weight This Week: 173.0 lbs. Weight Last Week: 174.0 lbs. Change: -1.0 lbs. Time: 23 minutes Distance: 2.12 miles Top Speed: 6.2 mph Calories: 221 Chest Press: 80 lbs. Bent Arm Cable Pulldown: 45 lbs. Stomach Crunches: 30 Push-Ups: 30 I'm noticing that some of my shirts are getting tight around the shoulders and upper arms, and that my arms are definitely getting thicker. This pleases me. ;) However, I still have the stomach! I realize it's like finding the Holy Grail to have a flat stomach, but it is something I'm still aiming for. I've been relatively silent on the whole marriage thing, mostly because I wasn't sure if things would pan out. It looks like things are far enough along to where I can state the date and plans with confidence. So, toob and I will be getting married on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at the San Jose State University Chapel. Afterwards there will be a potluck barbecue/reception at the barbecue pits outdoors; in lieu of presents we ask that anyone who plans to attend bring a dish to share with everyone! Since they won't let us serve alcohol at the barbecue, the plan is to invade a Dave and Buster's in the evening afterwards. I'm looking into their policy for large groups, and hopefully will be able to give details about possible cost soon. You folks in Arkansas, yes, it's safe to assume you're invited. :) I'd like to tell you now so you can save up for airfare and hotel cost. Unfortunately, we won't be able to put anyone up, but there's inexpensive lodging near both our place and (hopefully) the University. Now that the day is nearly here I'm getting more and more excited, and more nervous. We're aiming for a relatively modest service and it still feels like we're in over our heads. I can't imagine what it would be like to do something ostentatious; I can totally understand how a relatively level-headed woman can turn into a complete Bridezilla now. ;) Tags: chest and triceps, exercise, marriage, weight Current Mood: bouncy
